Andy Davis | Director
- Bentley Jennison
- Senior / Assistant Manager, 1987 - 1993
- Business Services Manager, 1993 - 2003
- Director, 2003 - 2005
I joined as one of the principals in April 2005 after spending seventeen years at Bentley Jennison, a large Birmingham city centre practice.
After spending such a long time at a large practice I felt it was right to focus my time dealing more closely with my clients. Making the move has allowed me to devote more time to dealing personally with them, and reduce their annual accounting costs.
I have extensive experience providing commercial, accounting and taxation advice to small businesses, and their owners in many different sectors. However, I have particular expertise in the following sectors:
- Catering (Restaurants, takeaways and public houses)
I work hard to gain an understanding of their businesses, and the ambitions and expectations of the individuals behind them. This provides me with a platform to offer practical commercial, accounting and taxation advice which is relevant, and tailored to each businesses needs.
- Culley & Co - Office Practice Manager, 1975 - 1991
- Dawes & Co - Manager, 1991 - 2001
- Bentley Jennison - Director, 2001 - 2005
I have worked for various firms of Chartered Accountants and over the years and have gained a great deal of experience in auditing, accounts preparation, forecasting and management accounts together with tax planning, business start ups, mergers and the sale of businesses.
My main objective is to get involved with my client’s business, which allows me to understand their needs and to focus on areas that are relevant to them and their businesses.
My client portfolio covers a wide range of businesses including:
- Engineering and manufacturing
- Jewellery retailers and manufacturers
- Insurances brokers
- Public houses
- Food wholesalers
- Warehouse and distribution businesses
I live in Astwood Bank, Worcestershire with my wife Debby. I am a keen walker and each year I set myself a challenge of completing one of the UK’s long distance paths.
Russell Mallen | Director – Boden Piper Limited
Russell joined Boden Leighton & Co in 1986 and stayed with the company for 24 years. In 2010 the business was acquired by Malcolm Piper & Company Limited, and Russell took on the role of director of the newly formed company, Boden Piper Limited.
The practice specialises in the provision of management accounting and offers a full “back office” accounting function. Russell therefore works very closely with his client base dealing with their day to day financial requirements.
In addition, he has considerable experience in relation to company start ups, raising finance, financial forecasting and the turnaround of failing businesses.
Russell’s objective is to give his clients the financial information they need in order to run their businesses efficiently and profitably.

I trained with a top 7 accountancy practice and have spent my career dealing with a very wide variety of client types, of all sizes and industry and professional sectors. I am the audit partner for the practice but I also have a portfolio of non-audit and unincorporated clients. I also deal with clients in the charities, legal, pensions and financial services sectors. I am a general practioner with the ability to advise on all aspects of business.
My “hands on” approach with clients has resulted in a trusted advisor status with many clients for whom I have acted as a partner being with me for more than 20 years and who have followed me through each practice change.
I am married with 3 children. I am a musician, playing guitar and bass since I was 11. I played in a local rock and pop covers band for 9 years until recently, entertaining in pubs and clubs in and around Lichfield and Birmingham. I am Treasurer at a local junior football club and enjoy watching football and cricket. I enjoy international travel and family holidays tend to be adventures rather than relaxing by a pool.
